Champlain Lookout - 2006

Marian at the Champlain Lookout.

I think this photo is very strong compositionally.  The combination of background and foreground works very well.  There are a number of slightly diagonal lines which repeat themselves in the photo.  The triangular shape repeats, too.

You can just see the wheel of my bicycle on the right.  If I had a chance to redo the photograph, I would have the wheel much further into this picture.

I am aware of the light flares in the picture.  I have resisted the temptation to retouch them out.  I don't know if they contribute, but I don't think that they detract.

Fort DeSoto is an Island at the mouth of Tampa Bay and a great place for cyclists to train.  One loop, out and back, is 15km, not counting whatever distance the cyclist rides to get there.  Being in the Gulf, the ride often presents a great opportunity to get used to the wind.

The Sunshine Skyway is in the background.

The Pace Bunny helps runners to meet their goal.  The runner relies on the Bunny to move at exactly the right pace; fast enough to meet the time and slow enough to prevent burn-out.

It's not totally clear in the image, but you can see the Pace Band on the water bottle.  In addition, it looks from here as if there is a GPS on the left arm.

Timberman Triathlong 2007.  The event is in Laconia, New Hampshire.

Marian, Ralph Werner and Cathy Bodnoff.

The racks are numbered and the age groups are racked together, which means that you have a better sense of who is in your group.  Coming out of the swim, and going into the run, a quick glance at the rack gives you a sense of where you are, at least in relation to the others in your age group.
